MEET DR. WHITTEMORE

Licensed Psychologist, Nationally Certified School Psychologist

Dr. Whittemore—founder of Kinnect Psychology—smiling warmly in a professional headshot against a light‑gray backdrop.

I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio — Go Bucks! After earning my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Arizona State University (with minors in German and Women’s Studies), I started my career working as a therapeutic preschool teacher at a crisis shelter. It was there, in the middle of the daily messiness and resilience of young children, that I realized how deeply I loved helping people connect to their inner worlds and each other.

That passion led me back to Ohio, where I pursued my doctoral degree in School Psychology at THE Ohio State University. After graduating, I spent time working in schools while completing my post-doctoral clinical hours. But I always felt drawn to the deeper, more personal work that happens in private practice — and that's where I’ve found my true home as a therapist.

Along the way, I also became a nationally certified instructor for Conscious Discipline, a social-emotional and parenting program. While I no longer formally train in that role, many of the tools and concepts continue to shape both my personal and professional life.

As a therapist, I strive to create a space that feels genuine, warm, and deeply connected. I blend a wide variety of modalities, always tailoring the work to the individual. I am an informed provider for Internal Family Systems (IFS). My approach draws heavily from my studies in attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, polyvagal theory, and the brain and body foundations of emotional healing. I’ve trained in EMDR, Conscious Discipline, Whole Brain Child, Brain Gym, sandtray therapy, and more — always with the goal of helping my clients build rich, meaningful, joyful relationships with themselves and the people around them.

When I’m not in the office, you can usually find me spending time with my family camping, exploring the outdoors, playing board/card games, completing DIY makeovers on our house, dog sitting, cheering for a women’s lacrosse team, watching football or delving into any one of my crafting hobbies (woodworking, knitting, pottery, sewing, etc.)
